My name is Azadeh Odlin. I am a fourth-year University of Western Ontario student. I am currently pursuing a double Major in English Language and Literature, and the School for Advanced Studies in Arts and Humanities. In this blog series, I will share my experiences of the Western Heads East remote internship in Mwanza, Tanzania. I hope my blogs become a positive environment for future students to learn new tips for international internship success.
Internship Placement and Partner(s)
Due to Covid-19 travel restrictions Western Heads East program connects to community partners remotely.
My placement is with Mikono Yetu –a women-led-non-profit organization based in Mwanza, Tanzania. I will collaborate with Girls Media Team during my remote internship. The goal of this program is to broadcast educational videos that empower girls and women in the community.
- To empower the Mikono Yetu’s girls’ media group to produce educational materials during my Internship with Western Heads East.
- To support Mikono Yetu’s English learning and writing objectives.
- To work in collaboration with community partners to implement their vision in the creation and development of the project.
- Enhance my intercultural sensitivity and increase my awareness of cultural differences.
